Live at OFFF
Quite often I get invitations from various companies to attend live webinars. Most times I RSVP them and for whatever reason forget that I have or get tied up in some work or training and miss the broadcast. However when Adobe invite me to attend I nearly always make it on time to watch, even when it's at a difficult time due to the time zones involved. Anyway, I recently replied to their invitation for a live review of my portfolio from the OFFF festival in Barcelona. Adobe have done away with the Pro site and instead it has become https://www.myportfolio.com/ As a passionate creative it's always interesting to hear other peoples opinion of your work but as usual I forgot that I'd applied even though it was in my diary! So imagine my surprise to get an e-mail 24hrs before the broadcast on Twitch.TV that my portfolio was to be reviewed and that I should create a Twitch account now! I had declined an earlier phone call on my mobile because it was from Spain and I didn't recognise it, oops! I was so excited when I got the e-mail that I frantically contacted all my friends (sorry if you received several reminders) letting them know about it. I couldn't sleep that night, tinkering with my portfolio and running over in my mind what I would say. As the time approached I received a call to say that there had been a small delay but to be ready and logged in to the Adobe Twitch TV channel. The reviewers were Paula Scher, who has been at the forefront of graphic design for four decades and Michael Chaize who is a Creative Cloud Evangelist for Adobe, focusing in web, design and innovation. The moment finally arrived that they were to review my work, I was excited but nervous. I was in a chat room so that I could answer any questions that they may have had about my work, I was frantically typing my replies whilst trying to listen to the review. Before I knew it was over and I felt so proud and tired. Many of my online friends and colleagues had watched the broadcast live and it was great hearing their comments afterwards. The whole process gave me a real shot in the arm to really try and promote my artwork, I even applied for several jobs on Behance that evening. It gave me a brief window of opportunity to reach potential clients around the globe and it was exciting, did I mention that already? I'd just like to thank everyone for their kind comments about my work. If you haven't seen it and would like to watch the review, please follow the link to my June newsletter and underneath my image "Darkness" you will find a link to the broadcast. If you would like to see my Adobe portfolio please follow the link below. Kind regards Mik.
